Walk For Wards this October half term

After the success of last year’s event, Bournemouth Hospital Charity is delighted to announce that this year’s Walk For Wards will return to the prestigious Somerley House Estate on Saturday 26 October.

Adults and children alike can take part in this fun, family-friendly event, choosing to walk 1km, 5km or 10km through the beautiful lanes and fields of the 7,000 acre country estate, which is being exclusively opened up to participants of this event.

Walk For Wards raised over £36,000 for different wards or departments across the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals in 2018, including the Stroke, Eye, Heart and Cancer Units and it is their aim to see if they can do even better this year. Each participant raised an average of £44, so why not see if you can beat this amount yourself and help out your local wards?

Whether you or a loved one has received treatment, or maybe you know someone who works on a ward or in a department, or maybe even work in one yourself – whatever your reason, this is your chance to support the area in your Hospital that means the most to you!

Becca Kellaway of the Bournemouth Hospital Charity Fundraising Team said,

“This is the perfect opportunity for people to celebrate the Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s 30th year serving the local community and raise money to support the hospital wards and departments that mean the most to them.”

Registration is free and walkers will receive a complimentary lunch from Rapid Relief. The event opens at 9.30am, with all walks starting promptly at 10.30am. Participants can also sign up for exclusive, free tours of Somerley House on the day.
