Walk for Wards 2017 FAQs

What will happen once I register?
Your registration pack will be sent to you shortly containing essential information about Walk for Wards and a sponsorship form. You will also receive participant identification that you are required to complete and wear while participating in Walk for Wards.

How can I raise sponsorship money?
We are registered with JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving so you can create a fundraising page which you can share with all of your friends, family and colleagues via email and social media.

Where can I park and are there any charges?
Parking is available in the North Car Park of Avon Heath Country Park at £3.50 per car, for the day. The main car park is limited to 140 spaces, so please car-share if you can.

Additional car parking can be found in the South Car Park. It is advised that you drop off any passengers at the drop-off point (located near the North Car Park entrance) and then drive to the South Car Park which is located on Boundary Lane.

There will be a shuttle service provided by Rapid Relief which will then transfer drivers only to the country park. This will be signposted and marshalled but please note that the transfer is not suitable for children or those with limited mobility. The South Car Park is available for £2.50 per car.

Please be aware that parking is forbidden on the highways surrounding the park.

Toilet and baby change facilities
There are no toilets on the event route as it is a woodland walk. However, there are toilets next to the café which is in close proximity to the start and finish line.

What about First Aid?
St John’s Ambulance will be stationed at the start/finish line and marshals will be positioned in key points along the route.

Is the route suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs?
The 1km route is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs, although as the path is gravel assistance will be required.

Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are more than welcome, but they must be kept on a lead at all times. Please do not leave dogs in cars.

Will my sponsorship money really go to the ward or department of my choice?
Yes! The sponsorship money you raise will go to support your chosen ward or department.

As this our first ever Walk for Wards event, we want to be bold and set a target of £30 in sponsorship for each participant to go towards their chosen ward or department!
