Treat your hospital to the perfect birthday present this year

To celebrate the National Health Service’s 70th birthday in 2018, Bournemouth Hospital Charity asks the community to join together and help fund a new Mini MRI Scanner that could lower waiting times and provide more comfortable treatment for radiology patients.

Launching the Mini MRI Scanner appeal to honour a momentous year for the NHS, Bournemouth Hospital Charity aims to raise £300,000 for the scanner that will benefit elderly patients as well as patients with leg or arm injuries or joint degeneration.

Everyone is encouraged to contribute to this special birthday appeal, by donating directly or by holding fundraising events of their own.

Superintendent Radiographer at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Matthew Benbow, says a new Mini MRI Scanner would be the perfect present for his department.

“A new Mini MRI Scanner would be a great gift to celebrate 70 years of our NHS,” says Matthew. “It’s purposely designed to offer better comfort for patients undergoing arm or leg scans.

“Currently, these patients often have to lie in awkward positions in our larger and noisier MRI scanners. We estimate around 200 patients per month should be able to benefit from an extremity MRI instead and this will also free up appointment slots on the other scanners to help us cope with demand for other body areas.”

Anyone wanting to support this major appeal can do so here or by fundraising through JustGiving at justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/rbch/minimri.
