How we are working

Coronavirus has changed how we work and will continue to do so for months and years to come.

To help keep our staff safe and adhere to social distancing, we are keeping our office open with reduced staff and working from home on a rotational basis during the week.

You can help continue to keep yourself and others safe, by wearing a mask when you enter our office in the atrium of the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and using contactless payment where possible.

Unfortunately our Charity Shop remains closed, but please keep an eye on our social media channels for further announcements on this.

Due to infection control measures, we are unable to accept physical and used goods into the hospital as donations. Instead, the staff are encouraging people to donate money so that the hospital can best decide where the help goes.

If you do however have large stock of new items you wish to donate, please get in touch to discuss this with us.

What we are raising funds for 

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, we launched an appeal in March to ask for donations to support our frontline staff – your local NHS Heroes.

We are extremely grateful to everyone in our local community that has supported us through this health emergency, but we still need your help to keep supporting our staff and patients through these uncertain times as demands on our hospital change.

We are continuing to fundraise for our staff health and wellbeing fund to better support them both mentally and physically as they care for us during and beyond the pandemic.

With the ongoing development of coronavirus (Covid-19), we are dedicated to ensuring that our donors and fundraisers are supported at this time.

If you are fundraising in aid of Bournemouth Hospital Charity, we appreciate that many fundraising activities take place outside of the home. We therefore advise that you adhere to government guidelines when choosing to organise or carry out fundraising activities. In addition, we advise all of our fundraisers and supporters to follow guidance on how to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus. This guidance can be found on the NHS website:

Sponsored Events

For our fundraisers who have registered a place on an event organised by Bournemouth Hospital Charity, including March for Men and Walk for Wards, we will update you on any postponements or cancellations by contacting you directly via phone or email, by using our social media channels and updating our website: 

Our challenges including Sky Dive, Abseil and Ben Nevis will be reviewed on a regular basis but at this stage they are still going ahead. Should this change we will be in contact with each registered participant individually as well as provide updates on the website and social media channels. 

If you have registered via a third party such as overseas treks or UK challenges, which has not been coordinated by Bournemouth Hospital Charity, we advise that you not only follow government guidelines and medical advice, but that you also monitor the information released from the third party organiser.

If you have secured a fundraising place on a national run or challenge in aid of Bournemouth Hospital Charity, we advise that you not only follow government guidelines and medical advice, but that you also monitor the information released from the event organiser.

As a charity we are taking this matter seriously and will continue to monitor and adhere to government guidelines.

The Charity has been supplying extra support to the staff and patients during this time, subject to donations, providing items such as wellbeing packs, whiteboards to communicate with patients whilst wearing PPE, non-perishable snacks on shift and access to mental wellbeing support. The hospital staff are crucial to the Trust’s response to this pandemic and with your help we can continue to provide extra support beyond the pandemic.
