Bournemouth Hospital Charity receives a £9,750 grant for staff resilience training
Bournemouth Hospital Charity is delighted to have been awarded a £9,750 grant from the Big Lottery’s Awards for All for staff resilience training.
The grant awarded by Awards for All will go directly towards resilience training to support 375 staff across The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Resilience planning began in 2017 when the Organisational Development team recognised a need to make this training available and accessible to all staff.
Corporate Education Manager, Miriam Lester explained some of the challenges that NHS staff face every day,
“Hospital staff are frequently subjected to difficult and emotionally challenging situations in the hectic, demanding and hard to control front line of healthcare. It is crucial that the inherent stresses are recognised and staff are prepared in advance for the potential impact of such work on their wellbeing.”
The Organisational Development and Education Teams at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital had planned the training and begun its delivery at the end of 2017 for as many staff as possible.
The courses that have and are being delivered, will allow hospital staff to share their stresses and find appropriate ways to cope with them in the ever-changing NHS environment.
The training concentrates on techniques that staff can utilise both in and outside of work to help them develop mental strength and increase their ability to remain resilient in a complex world.
The beneficiaries use this training to remain or develop resilience, which will ultimately benefit their colleagues and patients.

“Supporting staff is one of the key objectives of Bournemouth Hospital Charity and we are thrilled that this has been recognised by the Big Lottery’s Awards for All programme.”
The next step of the training aims to involve participants in delivering future sessions, which will help to pass on key messages and promote staff wellbeing.
