One of Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s proudest recent achievements is the funding of a new, state-of-the-art CT scanner that will provide more effective and efficient treatment for thousands of patients at our Hospital.

The million-pound CT (computed tomography) scanner will provide our consultants with the ability to examine a range of conditions with enhanced clarity and accuracy as well as helping to reduce waiting times for patients.

Manufactured by technology giant Toshiba’s medical wing, the ‘Aquilion ONE GENESIS Edition’ scanner was only possible thanks to generous donations to Bournemouth – most notably in the form of legacy donations left to the Charity in wills.

Major benefits of the device include sharper image detail as well as a measurable reduction in radiation dose to patients. An additional enhanced software package will boost the level of detail from scans, providing crucial information about patients’ conditions.

Legacies and gifts left in-memory to Bournemouth Hospital Charity allow projects and equipment such as this to be possible. Anyone wishing to leave a donation in their will or in memory of a loved one can find more information at on our legacies page.
